Joint Dissemination Event: Future of Industrial Parks

On the 15th and 16th July, EFENIS and LOCIMAP, the projects within the 7th Framework Programme, came together at a joint event was held at the Bayer facilities in Leverkusen on the Chempark complex.
The two projects informed each other as well as wider industrial and academic communities about their activities and put their heads together in facing the challenges and issues of the energy intensive sectors and future industrial parks.

During the first day, the goals and results of two EU projects were presented. Beyond the dissemination of results and experiences of these two EU projects, a conference session on the second day was dedicated to the vision of future energy and resource efficient industrial parks in Europe. Solution approaches based on process integration and industrial symbiosis were discussed from the perspective of different process industry sectors.

The event was attended by participants from different countries and different industrial sectors. Big manufacturing companies, SMEs and academia learned with interest about the outputs of the two projects and took part in lively discussions.

Joint dissemination event of LOCIMAP and EFENIS

The event „Future Industrial Parks – Energy & Resource Efficiency through Integration & Symbiosis“ will be held on 15th and 16th of July in Leverkusen, Germany (BAYKOMM, Chempark).

During the first day goals and results of two EU projects will be presented (LOCIMAP and EFENIS, funded by the European Commission within the 7th Framework Programme for Research).

Focus of the EFENIS project (www.efenis.eu) is development of a holistic total site design and retrofit methodology and demonstration of novel heat integration solutions.

LOCIMAP (www.locimap.eu) is re-examining the structure of industry parks using best practice benchmarks from across leading parks in EU. The objective is to identify strategies for much closer integration in manufacturing complexes so they can operate at increased efficiency both of energy and material use, and with lower emissions.

Beyond the dissemination of results and experiences from these two EU projects a conference session will be dedicated to the vision of future energy & resource efficient industrial parks in Europe. Solution approaches based on process integration and industrial symbiosis will be discussed from the perspective of different process industry sectors.

The second day shall give the opportunity to generate new ideas within and beyond the projects in different workshop sessions.
